Alternative Tentacles

With opening art weekend under my belt, something on the art tip in short order.

For the time being, though, just a last minute announcement (via email from Sharkforum's David Roth).

It's... "Strictly Alternative," a panel discussion tomorrow evening at the Chicago Cultural Center. Naturally, admission is free.

The Hyde Park Art Center's Allison Peters will lead an all-star panel featuring the Infamous Bad at Sports Troika, David Roth and the Notorious Wesley Kimler (representing the Sharks), and LumpenSelectVersion czar Ed Marszewski.

CAR sez:

Mainstream media is rarely the place to find out what's really happening in Chicago's art world. Instead, there are several new alternatives that probe and stimulate, revealing and challenging the conventional wisdom and the status quo.

BaS offers:

Artists and cultural producers discuss how their podcasts, forums, blogs and festivals are bringing new intimacy and openness to Chicago's art scene.

The discussion is slated to run from 6:00–7:30 in the pm. Even if I attend, I can't see myself making it down there before 6:30 myself, but I'd imagine someone might be forward-thinking enough to record the proceedings.

They have the technology, after all.

It was good to meet you Dan. Let's try to find some time to visit a while longer.

Any chance to get the podcast from the discussion?

The human spam-bot above (URL deleted) raises a pertinent question. They were apparently recording, so I'd expect some audio files should be available at some point if they aren't already.

I hope you comment on what you thought of the discussion, Dan. I would enjoy one of your typical, thorough discussions --- esp. as I am a fellow "Shark" who couldn't make it, living in Europe. BTW, myn, do you get a lot of spam comments here. I take it you delete them by hand. Must be a lot of work. Maybe you need a number recognition service or pre-pub managing.
